Beginner Level Workshops

Workshop: Clasps 101

Beginner

In this workshop students will learn about the many types of clasps used in jewelry making: from the simple lobster claw to the ornate Peyote stitch toggle and loop, and when to use each. 

Students will learn and practice attaching clasps with jump rings and crimp tubes.  Bring a nearly finished piece to complete in the workshop.

Workshop runs approximately 2 hours.

Workshop: Findings, 101

Beginner

In this workshop students will learn about the different findings and their uses in jewelry making.  Several finished pieces will be on hand for students to see how these findings are used, and many of them will be demonstrated.

 Students will learn and practice how to make two kinds of eye-pin loops, jump rings, and head pins out of wire.

Workshop runs approximately 2 hours.

Memory Wire Fun

Beginner- Age 8 & Up

KID FRIENDLY

Students ages 8 and up learn pattern and design as they make their very own memory wire bracelet. This class is for boys and girls. The photos shown show exact pattern however younger students are encouraged to work within their own unique creative style.

African Helix Stitch

Intermediate Level

Class will run approximately three hours in which students will learn and master African Helix stitch.  You will NOT have a completed bracelet in the time allowed for class as a piece in this stitch takes a long time to do.  Finishing techniques will be demonstrated to allow for completing the project at home. Student chooses clasp from available choices.

Peyote Stitch for Beginners

Intermediate

(prerequisite: Two Basic Classes)

In this class, students will learn the basics of Peyote stitch, which will build a foundation for most of the more complicated projects we teach.  You will not leave with a completed project! Rather, this class is all about technique.  You will learn how to begin even count Peyote stitch, end a thread, add thread, and keep proper tension.  You will also learn how to recognize and fix mistakes.

Several design ideas and more complicated projects will be on hand for students to see just what is possible with Peyote!
